Rondodel is a Brazilian forestry which manages 35,000 hectares of natural forest to the west of Pará, exporting to Europe, the US and Cuba.

Until 2009 Rondobel didn’t have the tools to trace where its wood came from. TFT has helped it to transform the way it works – supporting the company to gain Verified Legal Origin (VLO) certification made Rondobel the first Brazilian company to have its cut wood internationally and independently verified as legal. Then came FSC certification of its sawmill chain of custody in 2010 and for the forest area in 2012.

We have also worked with Rondobel to engage with the 16 communities neighbouring its forest concession. Today, around 70% of new Rondobel jobs are filled by people from those communities.
